Tonight, we stand at the threshold of the Lunar New Year with a lunar eclipse to start the Year of the Fire Horse.
Before the forward motion begins, before intentions are planted and plans are made, there is a quiet invitation to pause.
To release.
To listen.
To dream.
At our most recent Moon Wisdom Circle, we spoke about the waning moon’s gentle but powerful invitation to release anything we don’t wish to carry forward into the new lunar cycle. This morning I recorded a guided journey to Moon Wisdom Lake, it’s where I return when I want to reconnect with the ever shifting energy of the moon.
The waning moon reminds us that we are not meant to bring everything with us into the next turn of the spiral. Some patterns, some fears, some old stories are ready to be set down.
Releasing is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is as simple as noticing what feels heavy and choosing to loosen our grip. Sometimes it is the quiet decision to no longer organize our lives around fear or a mentality of scarcity.
The dark moon as this lunar year comes to a close and the new one is birthed provides an offered an opportunity to clear space – physically and energetically. To let go of what no longer belongs in our Spiral Dance to create room for something new to emerge.
And then comes the dreaming.
Over the past moon cycle I have found myself reflecting on what it means to dream bigger. For a long time, my dreaming has been very specific and detailed. I have tried to dream into exactly how things should unfold and what they should look like.
Recently, I had the realization that dreaming bigger may actually mean dreaming more broadly.
Less about the precise form something will take.
More about the energy I want to live and create from.
More about choosing love over fear.
More about trusting that what is meant to grow will grow.
It feels more spacious to dream into being surrounded by a community wise women.
Dreaming bigger is not always about doing more. Sometimes it is about allowing more. Allowing more possibility, more joy, more connection, more trust in the unfolding of our lives.
The Fire Horse is about moving forward with courage and trust.
And yet, before we begin to move there is a moment of stillness. A moment to become clear about what we are carrying forward and what we are leaving behind.
Today is a beautiful day to dream.
To sit with possibility.
To allow yourself to imagine a life shaped more by love than by fear.
To sense into what wants to grow through you in the coming year.
Tomorrow, as the new lunar year begins, you may choose to plant intentions or seeds. But today can simply be a day of spacious dreaming.
However you choose to mark this threshold, may it be gentle.
May it be spacious.
May it open you to possibilities even larger than the ones you can currently see.
Tonight I dream so tomorrow I plant.
